The Calgary CFA Society (CCFAS) was established in 1976. As one of CFA Institute member societies, our society connects members to a global network of investment professionals.
The Calgary CFA Society currently has 979 members. Almost 80% of our membership holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. The following is a breakdown by industry and title:

The objectives of the CCFAS are to:
- provide a professional society for financial analysts in Calgary,
- foster the interchange of information and opinions among its members,
- promote meetings designed to add to the knowledge of its members,
- foster a high standard of ethics and to promote sound professional standards of investment research among its members, and
- promote a proper public understanding of the functions of security analysis.
The CCFAS runs a year-round program of events aimed primarily at the continuing education of our members, although nonmembers are also welcome to attend most of our functions. Regular events include the President's Dinner in November (in honour of past-presidents and new CFA charterholders), the Forecast Dinner in January (in which prominent members of the investment community offer their predictions for the year ahead), the Exam Day Blowout on the first Saturday in June (for both CFA charterholders and CFA candidates), and the golf tournament in August.
The CCFAS is the sponsor of the Calgary Portfolio Management Trust, a pool of funds ($160,000) managed by third- and fourth-year students in the Faculty of Management at the University of Calgary. The CCFAS and The CFA Institute jointly sponsor a pair of scholarships annually to qualifying finance majors, covering the cost of registration for Level I of the CFA study program.
Calgary is the second largest financial centre in Canada with more than 95 corporate head offices, many of them related to the petroleum industry. Several are listed for trading on the New York Stock Exchange and others make up a significant portion of the Toronto Stock Exchange 35 group of companies.
