Matt Bootle, FCA, is a Partner in Ernst & Young’s Professional Practice group in Calgary. He provides specialized consultation services on a variety of complex accounting issues including innovative financing techniques, accounting for oil and gas and mining exploration and production, and Canadian and U.S. regulatory matters.
Matt has been instrumental in co-coordinating communication and consultation with key stakeholders on the oil and gas industry’s adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in 2011. Matt's leadership has shaped how industry participants will work with this inevitable change, and is expected to lead to significant costs savings in the industry. At Ernst & Young, Matt is a designated IFRS reviewer on technical matters, a member of Ernst & Young’s international oil and gas discussion group, and a trainer and presenter on IFRS topics both within and outside the firm.
Matt holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary, a Chartered Accountant certificate from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta (ICAA) and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Calgary. He is also a member of the Law Society of Alberta.
